When Laura Weiner turned fifty, her greatest wish was that her son, Thomas, would be healthy enough to someday celebrate his fiftieth birthday. Laura’s friends took her words to heart, and out of that desire founded A Mother’s Wish. You see, Thomas has spent his entire young life dealing with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
A Mother’s Wish was established to help those suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). More than 1.4 million American suffer from Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis; of those, more than 150,000 are under the age of 18. Funds raised by A Mother’s Wish support research, patient education, advocacy, and public awareness.
The mission statement of A Mother’s Wish is to assist those dealing with Crohn’s disease and Colitis; provide educational materials; and to support research towards a cure. Our fundraising activities will enable us to provide transportation to/from doctor visits and hospitals and pay for therapy, support, medications, and medical supplies for those afflicted. We will be a resource to the community and provide education materials to sufferers and their families. We will contribute funding to those seeking a cure.
