MEDIA, PA–When Laura Weiner turned fifty, her only wish was that her son Thomas would be healthy enough to someday celebrate his fiftieth birthday milestone. Laura’s friends took her words to heart, and out of that desire founded A Mother’s Wish in order to raise money to find a cure for Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis – both of which have robbed Thomas and hundreds of thousands of others of any kind of quality of life.
On October 29, 2014, A Mother’s Wish will hold its annual fundraiser, “A Night At The Casino”, at the Meadowlands Country Club located at 711 Boehms Church Rd, Blue Bell, PA from 6pm until 10pm.
A Mother’s Wish is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, supporting the search for a cure to Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis,
Crohn’s Disease is an inflammatory condition that affects the digestive tract – including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, anus, small and large intestine. It can affect any portion of the digestive tract. The disease is characterized by active periods, known as flare-ups, followed by periods of remission, during which symptoms diminish or disappear altogether.
Its cause is not known. Crohn’s Disease may cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. Loss of appetite and weight loss also may accompany the disease. An individual’s symptoms may range from mild to severe. More than half of all people who live with Crohn’s Disease will need to have surgery at some point to treat the disease.
A Mother’s Wish was founded due to the need to help those suffering from this disease on the front line. More than 1.4 million Americans suffer from Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative colitis, of which more than 150,000 are under the age of 18.
