About our Mission

When Laura Weiner turned fifty, her greatest wish was that her son, Thomas, would be healthy enough to someday celebrate his fiftieth birthday.  Laura’s friends took her words to heart, and out of that desire founded A Mother’s Wish.  You see, Thomas has spent his entire young life dealing with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The Need is Critical

A Mother’s Wish was established to help those suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).  More than 10 million  people world wide  suffer from Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis; of those, many  are under the age of 18. Funds raised by A Mother’s Wish supports research,  advocacy, and public awareness.

Our Mission

To support individuals & families battling Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, to fund research to find a cure and be a persistent resource for the betterment of our IBD community.

Our ongoing fundraising efforts offer programs that provide educational materials, support clinical trials, fund research and to support families. We are proud to partner with the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania with our endowment fund that provides a perpetual income stream to attract and reward young professionals dedicated to discovering treatments and a cure to improve the lives for those living with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease).

Through your generous donations & participation, we can support our programs and the teams of doctors at Pennsylvania Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia who work tirelessly to find better medications and treatments to make a better life for those caring for and living with IBD.

Our Programs

Your donations support the following programs (assisting families and those affected by Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis):
