When Laura Weiner turned fifty, her only wish was that her son Thomas would be healthy enough to someday celebrate his fiftieth birthday milestone. Laura’s friends took her words to heart, and out of that desire founded A Mother’s Wish in order to raise money to find a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis – both of which have challenged Thomas and hundreds of thousands of others to maintain a “normal” quality of life.
The Need is Critical.
A Mother’s Wish was founded due to the need to help those suffering from this disease on the front line. More than 1.4 million Americans suffer from Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, of which over 150,000 are under the age of 18. Funds raised by A Mother’s Wish support research, patient education, advocacy and public awareness.
Research and Support.
A Mother’s Wish contributes to families in need who are dealing with Crohn’s as well as organizations researching treatments for the disease.
Each year, the information resource center receives over 17,000 patient calls and distributes over 110,000 educational brochures.
